Pretty amazing what two doses of antibiotic will do.
We saw her urologist today and got some answers! Oh how I love answers!! :) She has another urinary infection which I pretty much already knew by the look of her urine output. We got antibiotic for that. Her bladder and monti channel are also very irritated by the catheter so we got some new self lubricating catheters to try out and some lidocaine to inject into the channel for when I am going to anchor the catheter for the night. And we also got a new medication that, from what I understand, will coat her kidneys and bladder and protect from irritation for a few days while it all heals. When I told her urologist about the way Laila was acting she said “that doesn’t make any sense” to which I replied “Have you met Laila?”
We did get some sleep last night. We kicked Jack downstairs so he could get some sleep since he has to go to work and Laila slept in bed with me. I had to get up five or six times for different things but that was welcomed with some sleep in between after the few nights we had before that. She also kept all of her feeding down yesterday and so far today. Mind you, we had to put it in slowly over a 20 hour period but it is was it is for now. A few people who have seen her over the past few days commented on how skinny she is looking already. We’ve just got to get those calories in and get her body stronger to heal.
She has been VERY mommy clingy. That is unusual for her. She is the biggest daddy’s girl ever and when our nurse comes to the house she will usually kick me out of the room or ask to go into another room to get away from me and get her all to herself. Last she cried and cried for me and this evening all she wanted was to sit on my lap. I guess 34 days in the hospital together gets you something…. ;)
Tonight she went to bed in her own bed without crying, with the catheter anchored in place. Could I possibly get a full night’s sleep….. time will tell… I’m gonna run there now while I can. Thanks for the prayers!!
