School visit

I took Laila back to school for the first time today. Even though she isn’t able to go back “for real” this year, she misses her friends SO MUCH! It was so fun to see how excited everyone was to see her. We couldn’t take two steps without someone new being surprised and excited about her presence.

This was so good for my heart! Having Laila and her special abilities is sometimes so hard for me, especially with school. She’s gone all day and most of the time I really have no idea what she did all day. So today was so great to go and actually experience some of her school day with her.

In her life skills class we got to experience circle time and it was fun to see all of her peers and how amazing they are. There’s so much love and kindness in all those little eyes, even if some of them cannot express it with their words. We missed her friends that were absent this morning but will hopefully catch them on our next visit.

Then we went to her General Education classroom and again so much love! All of the kids were so excited to let her try to remember their names and several hands went up when her teacher said one of them could use their reading time to read to Laila. She ended up having her friend Trent read to her which was fun because she loves him but also because I know his mom and could get permission to post a picture of them :)

I did hear back from the urologist today and tomorrow we will go locally for an ultrasound to check the spot where the stent was to see if anything looks odd. She happens to be at her office up here on Thursday so she’s gonna squeeze us in to read it. Getting all that set up quickly and conveniently is a huge blessing! It’s one of those Hope nothing is wrong but then wonder what it could be otherwise situations. Good thing I can just pray for God’s wisdom and not my own.

So speaking of school visits above, we also got to go to RJ’s author open house at school tonight. He did such a good job writing his young author book and I just love watching him skip around being so proud of himself. The progress he has made is just so amazing!! He had to write an A to Z book and he wrote his on things from the bible. Man that boy loves Jesus!

We also found up from a little birdie that RJ passed his IREAD test! That is so amazing!! Thank you to both Mrs. Vandermolens and Mrs. Schurman for all their hard work and patience with our special boy!
