The Plant Murderer

*language mishap alert*

I have a neighbor who wanted me to plant sawi Jepang (Japanese lettuce) in my yard. A very generous gift. But, I am the killer of all plants…. so I asked my language/culture coach what I should do and she said to accept the gift but be honest that I’m not good with plants and I usually kill them.

I make the sentences as best I know but look up the word for kill and then text my response to her.

She said “uh, Miss, your sentence is unusual??”

I ended up saying I’m a plant MURDERER 🤦🏻‍♀️.

But, she shared her plants anyway and now I will try to keep this generous gift alive. (But I did let the gardener plant them😉)
