I’ve been praying like crazy. This is what it mostly consisted of: “God I know I am selfish and I know that you have given us miracle after miracle after miracle. I know that I did the stupid human thing and when court didn’t go how I had planned and it was dragged out for so long I questioned where you were and got angry. It makes me ashamed but anyway I’m going to ask your for one. more. miracle. I don’t deserve it but I know You can do it. Please, please let us get this passport sooner than two months.”
This was what I received yesterday:
“It may still take 2 months to get the passport if they are following the Mumbai passport process. The passport office will likely require a police check to be done and that usually takes time. Then it takes time to get the passport printed and mailed to B**K. They don’t allow B**K to pick it up in person. I will let you know as soon as I have any news from B**K.”
And this is what I received today, the very next day:
“I met the Passport officer. She has passed an order to dispatch our Passports by 19th Oct. Hopefully they will reach B**K on Saturday or latest by Monday the 22nd.”
We are going to India!!! I was on the phone with the travel agent many times today and also with the Holt staff because technically we’re not supposed to make our travel arrangements until they have the passport in hand but since we want to leave……….Oct 27th…….. a week from Saturday…….. we kind of need to book tickets! Yes we’re nuts and that’s nine days away but the price of tickets are the same as leaving three or four weeks from now and if we can go then we can be back around Nov 10th and miss the Diwali holiday in India and Thanksgiving and all the other holidays that the US Embassy celebrates and closes for. We’re not sure how it’s going to come together but we’re hoping to put a hold on airline tickets tomorrow until we hear from the orphanage then purchase and gamble on that passport showing up in the next two weeks. We will need it by Nov 2 to take RJ from Pune to Delhi for his final appts before leaving India.
So above you can see one of the youngest pictures we’ve received of Ranjit besides small difficult ones from his medical reports. It’s been almost five years since the police found his little one on the streets of Aurangabad half dead and took him into custody. He weighed 11 pounds and couldn’t walk or talk. I’m not sure when the above picture was taken but much after he started receiving the great care he has at B**K.
Five years later here is our boy again, healthy and full of life but waiting to find direction for that life. I can’t wait until he gets home and sees we bought him that exact train for his room :D I had emailed Holt a couple of days ago to ask how Ranjit has been responding to the fact that we are coming soon. So many Americans say that these children must be so excited and thankful and can’t wait. That’s not always the case. Would you like to be ripped from the only people and caregivers in your life that you’ve ever known and not only go with someone new, but to go to a place that smells different, looks different, feels different and everyone is speaking to you but you have no idea what is going on? So I decided we needed to be prepared if he wasn’t very keen on the idea as it is turning very real very fast. He’s coming with us either way, but I wanted to be preapred. This was the orphanage’s response today:
“We prepare Ranjit for joining his adoptive family by showing his family album, CD and we explain him and show him through his album, where he is going to sleep, bathe or eat,we tell him that is going to be his home. And on the first day he was very excited and he listened carefully. Ranjit shares his family album with his friends, caretakers and the volunteers. He can tell the names of his adoptive brother and sisters to his friends.
Last week he went to the passport office and after coming back he told everybody that he is going to mummy and daddy. He is being told about the season mostly the winter and will explain him about the snow fall by showing the pictures. He is excited to go to home. He is excited and happy knowing that he is going to his parents, now he is the oldest child in his group and sometimes he demands for attention. He follows his daily routine and is in good health. And soon they will receive the Pre-departure report of Ranjit where all these points to be covered.”
I’m a mummy :) Brag away my sweet boy, we’re coming and it’s finally your turn!
Tonight’s Devotion with Emma. Seriously, God wrote this book for us.
Miracles Great and Small
For nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37
God is a miracle worker. Throughout history He has intervened in the course of human event in ways that cannot be explained by science or human rationale. And He’s still doing it today. God’s miracles are not limited to special occasions, nor are they witnessed by a select few. God is crafting His wonders all around us: the miracle of the birth of a new baby; the miracle of the world renewing itself with every sunrise; the miracle of lives transformed by God’s love and grace. Each day, God’s handiwork is evident for all to see and experience. Today, seize the opportunity to inspect God’s hand at work. God’s miracles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so keep your eyes and your heart open. Be watchful, and you’ll soon be amazed. Are you looking for a miracle? If you keep your eyes open and trust God, you won’t have to look very far. -Marie T. Freeman.
